I’m MiMi, the mom behind Modern Momsense. I am a wife, boy mom, full time employee, and part time blogger. I love starting my day with a cup of coffee and kisses for my boys (hubby and JC).
While my family is my world, my version of Candy Land would be a combo of shopping at Sephora, Amazon, and Target…all by myself 🙂. On the weekends, our family loves to go to parks and museums, travel to new places, and spend hours in any body of water to endure this Texas heat.
Why Modern Momsense?
After graduating with my Bachelors in Psychology, I spent a few years wondering what’s next? Then I got married, had a baby, and realized my greatest passions have always been family life and helping others. So the answer to my what’s next question was obvious…combine my two passions by starting Modern Momsense to help other millennial moms.
When I got pregnant, I quickly learned the traditional “rules” that were taught to my mother’s generation no longer applied. Times have changed and studies have helped science to have a clearer picture on pregnancy and infant care. Imagine my face when my OBGYN said I could have a cup of coffee a day in my second trimester…sheer shock…followed by elation!
Before getting pregnant, I was an aunt to 10 amazing nieces and nephews which made me think that I was well equipped and qualified to have a baby, but man, this mom life thing is harder than it looks. My rode to motherhood began with a miscarriage, you can read more about it here.
Then after giving birth to my son, I struggled in the beginning with postpartum depression. The challenges seemed to topple over me while learning to breastfeed and care for my son while only getting a few hours of interrupted sleep a day and working full time at a new company. The support of my family and advice from my closest girlfriends, helped to uplift and encourage me and I want to share that light and information with you!
About the Blog
Modern Momsense is a judge free zone where moms can come to be a part of a community that truly cares. I share honest stories of triumphs and failures that I hope can help to make mommyhood easier for you. I love sharing information about pregnancy, breastfeeding and pumping, product reviews, and caring for infants and toddlers. I also write about “adulting” topics specific to mom life.
Whether you’re a first time mom or having your second, third, or fourth after a long gap, I hope this blog will be a source of information and encouragement for you. So make yourself comfy mama, you’ve got this!
